WENDY WHITE – Brooklyn, New York
Magic-Spray miraculously heals Soccer players and in many ways Wendy White’s Artworks have the same effect.
Wendy uses images from moments in sports like Soccer, Tennis, Skiing and Basketball to bring you into the human experience of competition within ourselves to triumph over our opponents.
Using canvas, photographic prints, wooden letters covered in canvas and three-bar frames mimicking the Adidas symbol, Wendy’s brightly colored paintings immediately grab your attention to look deeper for thoughts and hidden messages.
It’s no wonder to me that Wendy was born in a town called Deep River in Connecticut.
Bright Pink, Yellow, Green and Blue are often Wendy’s palette which also often matches the color of her hair.
As Wendy explores using different materials, her work gets larger and more impressive. At a recent installation at Denny Diming Gallery in New York, Wendy created a large mobile with a black Peace Sign, Heart and Rainbow and a Neon Heart hanging above a bright yellow carpet splashed with black paint. Paintings with graffiti messages “Eat me”, “I’m Bored”, “Mat Wuz Here”, “I Want Pizza” and “Pleasure” covered the walls.
These works become parts of installations that completely take you out of whatever city they may be shown and immerse you in a world of Wendy’s wonderfully creative imagination.
Like the spirit of Wendy’s 1972, Yellow Plymouth Duster, muscle-car there is a feeling of power and freedom in Wendy’s Artwork.
Peace, Love and Pleasure!
